 A Snapshot of Sierra Leone’s End-of-Year 2025 Music Festival

As 2025 draws to a close, Sierra Leone’s music and cultural calendar has been unusually vibrant and dynamic. While not every traditional festival took place (or took place in its usual format), a number of high-profile events — from reggae to pop, beach parties to civic-culture — have shaped an energetic and telling chapter in the country’s cultural life.

Key among these are the One Nation Reggae Festival and the Salone Fest 2025, and several smaller but meaningful carnivals and concerts, including an appearance by an international Afrobeats star. These festivals have served as more than just entertainment — they reflect deeper themes of identity, heritage, tourism, youth culture, and the challenges that come with organizing large-scale events.

Performers included Sizzla Kalonji, Queen Ifrica, Christopher Martin, Jah Thunder, and local acts, offering a powerful fusion of African and Caribbean rhythms.
